General Information

The International Law program at Rauf Denktas University is a four-year program that leads to a Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B.) degree. The language of instruction for this program is English. The program has been designed with the international employability of the graduates in mind. The students will be equipped with all necessary theoretical and professional traits needed to launch a successful career in International Law. The program also equips students with the knowledge and the skill set needed for graduates to carry out research in the field of International Law.
The International Law program prepares students to pay attention to developments and innovations in domestic and international media; to develop solutions to emerging problems; to practice techniques and methods of scientific research. Lawyers can contribute to specialized fields of business and politics, as legal issues require multidimensional consideration based on different legal disciplines, and the search for legal solutions to local and global problems is increasing.

Goal & Objectives

The program provides students with up-to-date information; develops their writing, presentation, and reasoning skills; develops the skills needed to apply abstract rules to concrete events, and addresses private law issues. Opportunities to specialize in areas of expertise contribute to the enhancement of students’ professional qualities, as well as the development of economic life and the improvement of legal and judicial practice. The course has been designed considering the role of law in practical and professional life, and different courses are offered for this purpose.

Career Opportunities

Law school graduates can work in the following fields: as lawyers and prosecutors; legal consulting for domestic and international companies; legal consulting in the private and public sectors. Other career areas include job opportunities as trainers in the State Department; ombudsmen in the Ministry of the Interior and Treasury; assignments in various international organizations such as the Council, Security Service, NATO bureaucracy, European Commission, UN organizations, and International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Learning Outcomes

Students who successfully complete the program should be able to;
1. Systematically describe and explain how the law works
2. Use a conceptual framework to analyze legal issues
3. Define the central terms and ideas of the law
4. Critically evaluate several aspects of the law.
5. Understand the connection between legal theory and practice
6. Describe, explain and assess legal, political, historical, and other connections to sociology
7. Recognize legal issues and solve legal cases
8. Conduct legal research
9. Demonstration of oral and written ability to impart legal knowledge other
10. Demonstrates great interest and ability to actively participate in a legal debate.
