ENG101 English for Academic Purposes I
English 101 is a learner-centered, integrated-skills based course that will develop students in the four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) in an academic context. Tasks involving higher order thinking skills will require students not only to perform at knowledge and comprehension levels, but to synthesize and evaluate information, ideas and judgments as well. The variety of texts and perspectives presented through themes in and outside the class will facilitate their critical thinking process and thus enable students to become active and autonomous learners.

AİT101 Principles of Kemal Atatürk and History of Turkish Rev. I
It aims to let the student who attends the AİT 101 courses to acquire the ability of classification, description, explanation, analysis of the current social and individual problems in Turkey by taking rationality and science, norms of modernity into account with respect to the Kemalist thought and the Turkish Revolution.

TRZ101 Introduction to Tourism
Tourism history and introductory principles as: Tourism in perspective; cultural tourism; sociology of tourism; tourism psychology and motivation as to the different features of the total tourism product. Total tourism product such as accommodation units, leisure and recreation facilities; transportation, travel, cultural activities, supporting services as insurance, banking etc. Planning, development and economics of tourism. Cases on tourism practices and philosophies as to past, present & future.

TURK101 Turkish I
The course will cover the following: the importance of language as a social institution in the life of a nation; relations between culture and language; the Turkish languages and their geographical distribution; history of the Turkish language; phonology of the Turkish language; rules of punctuation. The rule of inflection (declension and conjugation) and derivation in the Turkish language. General rules of composition; various forms of written expression.

TRZ121 Economics
Demand and supply, elasticity, price controls, marginal utility and indifference curve analysis, production and costs, market structures, determination of wages, return on capital.

TRZ131 Financial Accounting
Introduction to accounting information system. Identifying, recording, summarising of economic transactions. Theoretical framework of accounting, generally accepted accounting principles and assumptions. Complete accounting cycle and book keeping aspects; accrual accounting, end-of-period assumptions and preparation of financial statements.

TRZ141 Introduction to Law
Social relations and law; different legal systems (common law – equity and European law); branches of law (public law – private law); source of law; application of law and interpretation; rights (acquisition of rights and bona fides; exercise of rights and good faith); capacity; mentally disordered persons and minors. Personal status; domicile.

ENG102 English for Academic Purposes II
English 102 builds upon the critical thinking, reading, and writing capabilities that students developed in English 101. Students learn the processes necessary for collecting and incorporating research material in writing. They learn how to evaluate, cite, and document primary and secondary research sources, and how to develop arguments to support them with sound evidence.

TRZ102 Behavioral Sciences in Tourism
This course is designed to examine tourist psychology at individual level and to understand tourist behavior before and after the travel experience and to provide an overview of consumer behavior and psychology in tourism industry. The course examines the factors influencing behavior; knowledge and involvement, attention and comprehension, attitudes and intentions; decision‐making behavior; classical and operant learning; cultural influences, reference groups.

TRZ104 Recreation and Leisure Management
Introduction to fundamentals of recreation and leisure. Modern, post-industrial society and importance of leisure. Private and public recreation. Programming recreational activities. Leadership in recreation.

AİT102 Principles of Kemal Atatürk and History of Turkish Rev. II
Parallel to the establishment of the Republic of Turkey, the assessment of the Turkish society as within the level of civilized nation-states, the experience of Turkish revolution with its sui-generis character in definition of the nation-state in a chronological line beginning from the Second Constitutional Era, The First World War, The Turkish National Struggle of 1918-1922 and the interval of 1923-60; the assessment of the modern Turkish nation-state by the restructuring of the state & the nation and the stages of the change and transformation in Turkish political and social system. The evaluation of the historical stages of the establishment of the modern Turkish state as a reference of solution and comparison for current debates in Turkish society and politics.

TRZ112 Business Mathematics
Basics of algebra, linear equations, inequalities, functions and graphs, systems of equations, exponential and logarithmic functions, limits and continuity, the derivative, applications of the derivative with specific examples from the service industries.

TRZ122 Business Management
This course adopts a problem-based learning approach to provide participants with an interactive project-based introduction to business administration. Participants will work in small interdisciplinary teams to solve a specific scientific or practical challenge with an important (technology) management dimension. As part of their problem analysis and search for suitable solutions, participants will become familiar with selected theoretical concepts, research methods and practical tools from the field of business administration. These problem solving activities will be facilitated by a tailored coaching of each group.

TURK102 Turkish II
The course is designed for students who are interested in learning about other cultures and languages, and who have previously taken Turk 101 or have already a command of basic Turkish. Throughout the course, the students will be presented with learning opportunities for increasing their intermediate language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. The culture portion of the course will focus on the exploration of a number of significant issues in Turkish history, political and legal systems, institutions and society at large. The ultimate goal of the course is to give students a foundation for a deeper understanding and appreciation into the Turkish culture.

TRZ201 Food and Beverage Services
Explanation and analysis of the internal workings of a food service management in business, industry and health related facilities. Presentation and analysis of food service organization structures, job descriptions, internal controls, internal system design, specialty food service equipment considerations. Analysis of the factors in the context of areas such as hotels, airline catering, other transport catering, educational institutions and contract food service management. Field visits to above mentioned types of operations. Preparation of term papers on different types of operations.

A survey of concepts and theories seeking to understand and explain individual and group behavior in organizations. TRZ332 Global Institutions
The interdependence of economic, political, social, cultural, technological and ecological factors at the global scale. How transnationalism, globalization and the neoliberal economy interact and reshape the lives of people and structures around the world. The typology of global institutions and the role of transnational organizations in contemporary social, economic and political life. The linkages between the local, the national and the global. Frameworks, regulations and socio-cultural trends that animate and govern global tourism.

TRZ342 Commercial Law
An introduction to the legal system including the roles of the Constitution, parliaments and courts. An introduction to the basic rules of commercial law including breach of contract, the tort of negligence, liability for unsafe products, misleading conduct and unconscionable conduct.

TRZ411 Tourism Law
A basic grounding in the fundamentals of hotel and restaurant management that effect legal rights and responsibilities. Emphasis is on recognition of issues and organization of solution in a logical manner with case studies.

TRZ416 Research Methods
An introduction to research process and design, data collection, hypothesis testing, and reporting; featuring econometrics and other quantitative applications in business research; research on a topic related to the tourism and/or hospitality industry.

TRZ481 Service Quality Management
A general view of quality, dimensions of service quality, diagnosing service quality failures, measurement of customer satisfaction with services, cost of quality, planning for and managing service quality.

TRZ422 Investment Management
Introduction to basic capital budgeting and investment appraisal techniques. Basic components of a complete feasibility study: Business concept development, assessment of industry trends, preparation of marketing plan, prepration of management and organization plans, financial statement projections, cash flow statements, application of investment appraisal criteria, sensivity analysis, preparation and presentation of feasibility report. Application of the investment appraisal model to tourism investment projects.
